Knit-O-Rama! is a fresh, fun, and fashion-conscious approach to a fascinating and time honored art...
I think I know what you are thinking, if you are not already a dedicated knit-head. " Knitting is for grannies, and people who make potholders and toilet roll covers, or is just an ol'-fashioned way of letting someone know you're expecting. I'm just not into tea cozies and baby booties..." Or for those men out there... "Knitting is for GIRLS!" WELL, ALLOW ME TO ENLIGHTEN YOU! After learning a few basics, ie. knit and purl, and a few important techniques, ie. "how do I get this string on these darn needles?", you could pick up a copy of Vogue Knitting magazine and knit yourself an Anna Sui, Todd Oldham, Adrienne Vittadini, Isaac Mizrahi or even DKNY design! Yes... IT'S TRUE. You can deck yourself out in true runway splendor for a fraction of designer prices. And, yes, fellows, there are patterns for you, too. Actually, there are lots of magazines and patterns available to knitters, I just happen to be very partial to Vogue Knitting. And remember, there is nothing so fab as giving "that special someone" something you made yourself, that doesn't include glue and macaroni.
So you've decided to make use of those idle hands while you tune into All My Children or your MTV? Then what are you waiting for? NOTES: I am always (well, OKAY, sometimes...) working on getting the site TOTALLY UP and FULLY FUNCTIONAL. (I need some webpage Viagra!) There are still quite a few things under construction! i.e. the Patterns, Supplies, Me sections... This page is also geared to those who are beginning, or who are interested in taking up the art, but I hope to have a bragging board from other funky diva cyber knitters so that we can encourage the knitting knewbies! There are so many expert's sites out there, I thought I would start an informative page of my own to help encourage others who are just getting into it. There ARE however, a LOT of great LINKS and pages of information for experienced knitters to enjoy to round out the site. If anyone wants to make suggestions or contribute something to help other knitters, or relate experiences about knitting to beginners, just let me know! Thanks! -Helen
